“Similar key words apply to my sport, so hearing these descriptions and
watching the sports helps me gain something from the experience of other athletes,” says Joannie.
“For example, in one interview, a swimmer said that he was thinking of the key words ‘easy speed’
during his race. I can fully relate to that even though I’m a poor swimmer.”
“In skating, we often use the terms ‘feeling your ice’ or ‘to be in your ice’
because those words help us think about sliding effortlessly,” Joannie continues.
“It’s interesting that even in swimming, they try to feel that they generate speed effortlessly.”
