The World Boxing Council (WBC) has requested for a postponement of the mandatory title bout of flyweight champion Daisuke Naito and Thai challenger Panomrunglek Kratingdaenggym, says promoter Wirat Wachirarattanawong.
Wirat said WBC chief Jose Sulaiman wants Japan’s Naito to defend his flyweight title against China's rising star Xiong Zhao Zhong in March this year, before allowing the winner of the match to fight Panomrunglek.
The Thai promoter said he was earlier confirmed by the WBC board when they met at the WBC meeting in Chengdu, China, in November last year that Panomrunglek would fight Naito in a mandatory bout early this year.

The WBC has given its approval for the staging of the first-ever professional boxing world title in Shanghai, China,
when Japan's Daisuke Naito will defend his WBC flyweight world title against China's rising star Xiong Zhao Zhong.
That will be the first time that a Chinese male boxer has ever fought for a WBC world title, and the first time that Japan and China have ever contested a professional world boxing championship.
The historic fight will be held either late March or early April.
