obvious it's calculated considering she never has done so before
and coincidentally the two times she had it was the day before
a crucial primary where her campaign and political career are on
the line. Honestly, the bulk of her support is from people that liked
it when Bill Clinton was president and that's all there is to it.

People say they like Hillary over Obama because she has more
"experience", but I think that's nonsense. Obama has been an
elected official much longer than Hillary, and even then, Hillary
has only been a senator since the end of 2000. Being first lady
doesn't count as administrative experience because she had nothing
to her name or credit during her husband's presidency except a failed
national health care plan. To give her credit for what her husband
did is ridiculous, because what's to stop Laura Bush from running
for president claiming to be the one behind all the good decisions
of his? That's why I support Obama, because of his record, admirable
life experience, brilliance, and positivity.
As for Republicans, I'd hate to be one right now. McCain has been
loathed by them for a long time because he doesn't follow the party
line (which is respectable), but at the same time he's a warhawk
that sees no problem with the USA military being in Iraq for the
next century. I respect his life and survival in Vietnam, but I
can't stand his policies on the war - a conflict with Iran would
be inevitable.
Mitt Romney is the most shameless political face I've ever observed,
and I'm so happy he's losing and wasted his tens of millions of
dollars of his own money. He's switched positions on every major
issue each time he's run for a differing office, and being an asshole
caught up with him. uckabee is pleasant to listen to but he's a religious fundamentalist.
He makes weird and disturbing comments about changing the Constituion
of the USA to "god's law" (like he knows what god wants) and denies
Darwinian evolution which makes him both a religious idiot and an uneducated one.
Ron Paul is brutally honest, likable, intelligent, and is his own man
but his domestic/economic policy proposals are some of the most laughable
nonsense I've ever heard. Deregulating corporations and having them decide
wages, safety standards, etc. with no government oversight? What bullshit
fantasy land is he dreaming of? If it's not the government people will be
dependent on, it'll be corporations and business entities whos existence
is to make a profit. Libertarians come from this idiotic school of thought
that the consumer has power over corporations and that's just not true.
A Ron Paul America would equal an Industrial Revolution era of Americans at
the mercy of corporate entities.
All in all, a Democrat will win I'm sure, although the best chance a
Republican has if they run McCain against Hillary. If Obama gets
the nomination, the election is over because he'll win it.

I think Bush has been soft on NK because even after they showed off
their nukes, kicked the UN out, and tested them he doesn't care but
instead invades Iraq saying *they* have those sorts of weapons

policy-wise he's usually weak except of course to invade Iraq which
we all knew even in 1999 was part of his agenda. He couldn't even
get up and do his job on 9/11 when he was told we're under attack.
He kept sitting reading a children's book unsure what to do... sounds
like a weak leader to me.

And the bad news for us is that chinese lobbyists have influence

Well, I'm not even a registered Democrat so saying they're weak
doesn't necessarily insult me. They are weak here domestically
because of things like cancelling hearings on Bush's misinformation
to Americans and not standing up against Republicans, even though
they're the majority in our Congress.
Beyond NK's nuke testing there's been little to no coverage of them
on the news here. There are talks sometimes that are mentioned, but
we know nothing happens with them. Personally I think we should just
not bother talking with them at all, because we have nothing to
gain by negotiating with a nation like them. The Democrats' concern
is to get rid of their nukes, but I've suspected that behind closed doors
we've been aggressively pushing China to deal with it (like I've
said) because the USA has really no leverage against NK more than
what we've been doing. I would be extremely surprised if Clinton
or Obama negotiated with NK again, as it's established foreign policy
to not do such things until we can verify that they've gotten rid
of their nuclear program completely. At the same time, we can't
necessarily verify that either, but it'd be political suicide for
any administration to trust NK again for anything.

Alright. I think the reason there is no "weeaboo" alternative to
French culture is because as Americans, our lifestyle and culture
are derived mostly from Western Europe anyway. On the other hand,
Japanese culture is totally foreign to Americans, and the only
sort of mainstream Japan gets here is through anime and videogames.
Because Japan is such a contrasting culture in respect to morals,
social taboos, and the way they do things, it's easier for Americans
to stereotype Japan (due to ignorance) namely because they've had
no influence on our developing culture at all except perhaps WW2.
When an American wants to be Japanese, other Americans will make
fun of them because we treat their appeal to Japanese culture as
silly since it implies they don't care about or aren't proud of
their own American culture or those of their parents. If an American
wants to be French or German, we applaud that because since our own
culture is essentially influenced by Europe and we treat them as
having some sense of cultural sophistication. Americans see Japan
as just Asians who have comics, videogames, and are generally just
weird. Like I said, if a white American girl is obsessed with an
Asian culture for virtually no sensible reason to the average
American person, why wouldn't they be made fun of? Most Americans
find it odd, and it sort of is, perhaps the same way if a Japanese
became obsessed with Nigeria, wanted to learn a Nigerian dialect,
and made friends with the Nigerian immigrants you have in Tokyo.
However, there is a double standard for Japanese that have that
feeling for Korea, Taiwan, or China right? That's because those

Japan is changing, but it's still a largely homogenous society of
mostly Japanese. There isn't a cultural acceptance of foreigners,
and the impression I've gathered by reading and being there is that
most Japanese don't treat you as a citizen of the same country
you both share, even if you work and live there while being able
to speak good Japanese. Whether it's Iranians, Indians, Brazilians,
etc. who may very well consider themselves Japanese citizens, I
cast a very strong doubt that they'll ever be truly accepted by
Japanese society.
As for foreigners or foreign-bloods in the entertainment industry,
personally I disregard that as any sort of social progress because
their foreignness is precisely their gimmick and marketing appeal.
Eiji Wentz (WaT) is famous and popular because he's half-American
and has good-looking foreign appeal. I can't say he would have the
same chances and success he's had if he were a full Japanese.
However, it's not necessarily Japan's fault, but it's just my
commentary.

Japamerican is treated the same way as weeaboos here in Japan. They believe america is a utopia or something.
Silly, isn't it? All they know about America is hollywood celebrities. Other Japanese will make fun of them.
Having said that, though, just liking American stuff doesn't mean they are American-wannabe,
because as for Japanese people, anything goes as long as American pop cultures (in this case)
are good enough to pay attention. And this is my take, but American people are too proud of
their culture to accept other cultures or they never think of accepting other cultures as it is.
No? Then why do Hollywood remake Japanese movies? Because they'd never think of watching subbed-movies
in the theater. Only this example reflects American people's provincial mindedness, no offence.
Anyway, I have a good idea. Let's exchange weeaboos and Japamerican for the sake of peaceful life. lol

I'm trying not to, I don't like Arudou Debito at all to be honest.
I'm just telling it like it is, not really advocating anything. Arudou
is an idiot because he renounces his American citizenship for a
country that is a racially homogenous society like Japan and starts

films roll our eyes and make fun of the Hollywood remakes.
The only reason Hollywood makes Japanese films is because they're

and putting it in theaters because horror films have been the fad

subtitled film (we do), the industry does it to make money. I've

completely different than another. We all make fun of Florida

Most definitely. Trust me, America may have been founded on
immigrants and diversity but we're a long way from being what
we preach. We're also more violent and paranoid than other Western
nations which is another topic altogether... still, Obama just
swept the election primary today, so we may not be all that bad.
We're doing better, but there are just so many people and regions

Just to make myself clear and easier to understand, let me give you an
extreme example. I'm sure you know there are more than a billion people
in China, and let's say America admits to it that Chinese people can vote
for the presidential election even though they don't have American nationality.
Then the Chinese communist party would send hundreds of millions of its people
to America in order to take over American politics, wouldn't they?
That'd be ridiculous.
I strongly believe, as far as suffrage is concerned, the right to vote

I agree because it's common sense. Non-citizens shouldn't have
any right to vote, simple as that, although personally I welcome
anyone who wants to come to the USA to work and have a better life.
My own father came to this country almost thirty years ago without
knowing any English but he was granted a scholarship for
martial arts, and was fleeing from the Islamic Revolution in Iran
in '79. He didn't know anyone here, worked the worst labor jobs just
to eat, and took night classes to learn English. However, over time
he was able to learn English, graduate school, and move to LA
to study physiology. He doesn't brag about this but I admire anyone
that did what he did, and he's proud to be an American, and just
before he married my mother he was granted citizenship. These are
the kind of people I want in America, personally.
The other part of this argument is that because perhaps Mexicans
come here illegally, work, and don't commit crimes they should have
driver's licenses and voting rights. As much as I have respect for
immigrants and whatnot that doesn't make sense. Become a citizen first.
To solve the immigration problem in America, I personally believe
we should offer pathways for the illegals here to learn English,
have jobs, have no record of felonies, and let them become citizens
if they want to be Americans. I'd rather have them than the immigrants
that come to America that don't speak English, don't care about our culture,
and think they can just live here for the benefits and not want to be
Americans... that's a huge problem in Europe and Scandanavia already
which is why I bring it up.
I don't mean to rant, but I'm just laying out my views honestly
since this conversation has moved this direction. :P

You bet. I agree. That's a well-balanced thought, I believe.
And as for North Korean people living in Japan, sadly, but I must say
they are like the ones that you wouldn't want in your place.. I don't be
so judgmental, trust me, I also think it's a good idea to have people in Japan
who like Japan. But it's verified that North Korean people sends money that they
earn in Japan to North Korea and help their country develop nuke weapons and death-
threaten Japan.. In other words, they hate Japan. Still they ask for saffrage..
It's not acceptable, personally.. It's a complicated and delicate problem.
Anyway, as for Brazilian people, as far as I know, they are able to
get Japan's nationality with ease. And some Japanese people help them
learn Japanese. And I think that's a good thing.

Yeah, I think we have reasonable beliefs then, and I imagine they
would be sensible to regular people as well who are educated on
this subject.
There was a three state primary/caucus today (Washington, Louisiana,
and Kansas) for Democrats to vote for the nominee, and Obama
won all three states with ease which gives him both momentum and
a delegate lead. The results just came hours ago, so it may be
in your newspapers later.
I've been an Obama supporter the day he announced his candidacy,
although my parents and family were for others, so I'm pretty
happy that he may pull it out now. He hasn't won it yet, but
he's certainly on the way to and I'm hoping he does it. After
7-8 years of George Bush screwing up the USA in almost every way
I can think of, I hope Obama wins and I can travel overseas not
embarassed to say I'm American.

Yep, the news is in today's newspaper, but it says that Hillary is
still leading Obama. Is it wrong? According to the news paper I have

It's hard for even me to say, because our electoral process is
grossly complex and confusing. The news pundits on television try
over and over to explain and simplify it, but 99% of Americans don't
get it. We have a primary system of electoral delegates (votes cast)
and "super delegates" which are individuals affiliated with the
Democratic Party who pledge their own vote for President. The
problem is that super delegates, I think 20% of the primary voting,
may actually be the ones that decide the nominee which is extremely
non-democratic and half the party will cry foul. I keep reading
sources that say Obama is ahead in delegates, but Clinton is ahead
when super delegates are tallied, but even then it could change
depending on the upcoming primaries that stretch all the way toward
April 22 (Pennsylvania). The delegate counts are different for every
news source I keep checking, but I'm just going to say Obama is ahead
