State Senate passes trafficking ban NY

Last year a 15-month-long investigation by federal officials led to the arrest of 31 Korean nationals,
many from Queens, after a Flushing woman accused of running a brothel in the community tipped off
East Coast authorities. State Assemblywoman Ellen Young (D-Flushing) and City Councilman John Liu
(D-Flushing) have been publicly critical of the lack of laws pertaining to human traffickers, something
they recognize as a problem within their communities, and lauded the bipartisan effort in Albany.
