22 vendors of anti-virus software taken to court in patent dispute

アメリカ テキサス州の企業IPAT(Information Protection and Authentication of Texas)社が、
自社の特許を侵害されたとして2008年12月30日に提訴した
IPAT社は米国特許5,311,591(“Computer System Security Method and Apparatus for Creating
and Using Program Authorization Information Data Structures”)及び米国特許5,412,717
(“Computer System Security Method and Apparatus Having Program Authorization Information
Data Structures”)を侵害されたとしてその使用の差止めと損害賠償を求めている
訴えられたのは Symantec Corp., Microsoft Corp., AVG Technologies USA Inc., CA Inc.,
Check Point Software Technologies Inc., Comodo Group Inc., ESET, F-Secure Inc.,
iolo Technologies, Kaspersky Lab Inc., McAfee Inc., MicroWorld Technologies Inc., NetVeda,
Norman Data Defense Systems Inc., Novell Inc., PC Tools Inc., PWI Inc., Sophos Inc.,
SunBelt Software Inc., Trend Micro Inc., Velocity Micro Inc., Webroot Software Inc の22社
heise Security UK の記事によれば、これらの特許により説明されているシステムはソフトウェアを
任意の実行から保護して関連するリソースをモニタする様に設計されており、セキュリティ
プログラムは典型的なふるまいを認識することによって同様のルーチンを頻繁に使用して
潜在的マルウェアを見つけ出すということだ
