Wow to her to acknowledge Yuzu in her dissertation. Kinda understand her well since I finished my grad from this school (called U. Of Missouri-Rolla or UMR then). The campus is in an isolate small town so students can feel lonely and self-doubt easily trying to finish the thesis.
