OSAKA — A woman who was allegedly abducted from a restaurant on May 9 by the manager and a co-worker and then raped told police Thursday there were others involved.
According to police, the manager of the Shinsaibashi branch of the Pepper Lunch steak house chain, Daisuke Kitayama, 25, and a co-worker, Masanobu Miyake, 25, approached the woman in her 20s and subdued her with a stun gun around midnight.
She was the only customer in the restaurant at the time.
The woman told police she was dragged out to a car and given a sedative. Police allege the pair drove her to a rented garage in Izumisano where they raped her and stole 50,000 yen in cash.
The woman was left bound and gagged in the garage. The two suspects, wearing their restaurant uniforms, were spotted leaving the garage by a neighbor.
Police are questioning the two suspects on the possible involvement of others in the assault.
Meanwhile, Pepper Food Service, the parent company of the restaurant, posted a notice apologizing for the crime at its 200 locations nationwide Thursday.
