Newark, New Jersey, August 30 (Bloomberg) -- A former U.S.
diplomat pleaded guilty today to charges he aided a key figure in
the probe of Sen. Robert Torricelli and got a new car, college
tuition money for one daughter, and a job for another in return.
C. Kenneth Quinones, a retired State Department analyst for
North Korean affairs, admitted that he used his influence to help
New Jersey commodities broker David Chang win a U.S. government
contract and try to recover millions of dollars from the Communist
government in Pyongyang. For his efforts, Quinones, 58, of
Centreville, Virginia, was also promised a job at Chang's firm,
Bright & Bright, authorities said.
