QUEBEC - Japanese teen Mao Asada will be the next women's world figure skating champion.
That was the logical conclusion to be drawn from the sparkling free-skating performance
that won her the gold medal and $18,000 (U.S.) first prize at the HomeSense Skate Canada International meet Saturday.
Asada has everything it takes to be at the top - the difficult jumps, the exquisite spins,
the elaborate footwork, and artistic presence on the ice.
The 17-year-old skater was the silver medallist at the 2007 world meet and
she appears destined to win it all in Goteborg, Sweden, next March.
