Sometimes transfer links are so unlikely that they have to be true -
and the whisper that Japanese striker Hisato Sato is set to move to
Celtic surely falls into that category.
The 25-year-old currently plays for Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the
J. League and is considered to be one of the best players in
Japan. Of course, he is not the best Japanese player but
Shunsuke Nakamura plays for Celtic.
While there is no suggestion that any deal is imminent,
we have been informed that Celtic are "very interested"
in signing the player, who was named in the J. League Best XI
in 2005. Given the commercial and footballing success of
Nakamura, the days of dismissing the thought of signing
Japanese players without a second thought are over.
