Now we Japanese religious individuals are put to the test.
We cannot help declaring our sincere regret and unavoidable protest to be denied religious freedom by Chinese action of force in Tibet.
We cannot pass over any more the suffering of Tibetan people, coming with monks, as individuals from genuine religious or Buddhist perspective.
It is important basic to preserve Tibetan religious tradition by own volition of Tibetan people themselves.
You may wonder how dose monks acting in Japan.
Each religious school, community has been pour their effort to reconstruct temples linked by fate in various regions in China.
Even for myself, I committed reconstructing Chinese temples.
However, transaction with Chinese temple must go via Beijing.
We hardly had any freedom. Most of the monks know it would continue.
And it is well known that Beijing have displeasure when Japanese Buddhist community has communication with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
I think consistently that the issue about religious freedom is important.
However, we cannot find any visible action in Japanese Buddhist society after three weeks from uprising in Tibet.
Why shouldn’t we say anything, do anything, despite we take Chinese Buddhists as our precious friends?
