第四條 俘虜ハ敵ノ政府ノ權内ニ屬シ之ヲ捕ヘタル個人又ハ部隊ノ權内ニ屬スルコトナシ
俘虜ハ人道ヲ以テ取扱ハルヘシ
俘虜ノ一身ニ屬スルモノハ兵器、馬匹及軍用書類ヲ除クノ外依然其ノ所有タルヘシ
Art. 4. Prisoners of war are in the power of the hostile Government, but not of the individuals or corps who capture them.
They must be humanely treated.
All their personal belongings, except arms, horses, and military papers, remain their property.
