Woman allegedly steals $8K in jewelry
A 29-year-old female has been arrested after allegedly shoplifting a number of jewelry items worth a total of $8,000.
While shopping at Duty Free Shoppers (DFS), Tami Kiyota Kitayama was observed by employees as she placed displayed
merchandise into her bag without paying for the items and passing all registers as she headed for the exit,
Superior Court of Guam documents state.
When she was apprehended by DFS Loss Prevention, she confessed to taking the items without paying for it.
Of the items confiscated, court documents state Kitayama took 16 different Swarovski earrings, totaling
$1,697. She further confessed to taking approximately 17 additional pieces of merchandise on March 21,
including approximately 15 Swarovski necklaces and ear clips.
Kitayama was charged in Superior Court with retail theft as a second degree felony.
