These three kinds of waterstones and a coarse diamond whetstone are enough to get you started.
Here is a piece of advice for you.
Keep the surface of the waterstone horizontal.
When the surface is not horizontal, it is difficult to whet the knife well.
It may take you a little longer to get the knack of it.
