I encountered the March 11th massive earthquake at a hospital I was visiting in Iwaki city
in Fukuoka prefecture. The hospital was struck by big tsunami but evacuation after the quake there was properly and
quickly managed so fortunately, no one there were hurt or died.
But all the cars of hospital staff and outpatients parked at the hospital including mine, are destroyed
by the huge power of tsunami. Water and electricity supplies to the hospital were stopped and
the hospital was isolated. Later, patients and medical staff all moved to safe region and they
are all doing fine now. I, along with them, am trying very hard to get back to the way we lived a life
before the disaster. Because of the delay of recovering the supplies of
gas, electricity, water etc. and the damages caused by the nuclear plants,
they can't go back to their hometown. I heard that sometimes they are
faced with unexpected descrimination in an area where they evacuated to due to
radiation from the nuclear power plants.
They and Japan are all trying to overcome the hardship. I hope everyone
will support their efforts and dedications.
