Scioscia: Angels don't need 'big splash' free agent

A year ago, the Angels dropped out of the bidding for free-agent first baseman Mark Teixeira
and used that money instead to re-sign outfielder Juan Rivera and add free agents Bobby Abreu
and Brian Fuentes. All played key roles on the Angels team that reached the ALCS before losing to the Yankees.
And the GM endorsed Scioscia's stance on less being more (spending less on multiple players to address more needs).
