With a circulation of over 1 million, Sports Nippon is the largest of Japan's sports
newspapers, national dailies with heavy doses of sports, entertainment and news
stories often shunned by the mainstream broadsheets. Despite the tendency to
go for less respectable content, coverage is generally attributed and sources are
named. Sports newspapers are known for their huge, banner headlines printed in
multiple colors and often with lots of word play. Sports Nippon Newspapers is
affiliated with the Mainichi Newspapers.
