A Queens taekwondo instructor was arrested for sexually assaulting and raping one of his 12-year-old students, officials announced Wednesday.
Hector Quinchi, 36, allegedly “engaged in sexual conduct” with the young girl during lessons
at Hugo’s Taekwondo studio in Sunnyside for nearly two months beginning on Aug. 15, according to the Queens District Attorney’s office.
Last Saturday, Quinchi allegedly raped the teen, the DA said.
“The parents of this youngster trusted the defendant to teach the girl how to defend herself,”
Queens Acting District Attorney John Ryan said in a statement.
“Sadly, the preteen needed protection from the karate instructor.”
Quinchi was charged with first-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison.
