On Japanese TV, people have started to notice that even the "man on the street" interviews are intricately staged.

A friend and I were on Japanese TV once. It was for Zoom in Saturday about 6 years ago.
While walking in Osaka, a guy came up to me from Kansai TV I think, and wanted to know
if I could speak Japanese. I said yes, and he said they want to interview Japanese speaking foreigners
about random stuff next week. He asked if I was available, and I said sure. He also said I could bring a friend if I wanted.
So I brought my foreign friend. They asked me a bunch of random questions,
about what I did in Japan, how old I was, what food I liked, etc. You know, the usual stuff.
Then they drove us to some Okonomiyaki burger place, and said they wanted to shoot us eating there,
and they would ask us questions (as if we were already there, and they just stumbled upon us).
They had my friend go inside, and order something. They told him that they would come in,
and they wanted him to be in the middle of eating. They would then ask him was he was eating,
and what he thought about it. They at the the end would ask him "How do you feel when eating it?"
and they wanted him to say "地球で生まれたよかった." (I'm glad I was born on Earth) I guess it was somebodies famous quote from around that time.
We got a free lunch out of it, and got to be on TV, but they pretty much staged the whole thing.
