JAPAN's latest pop sensation is completely untouchable - because she's a hologram.
Music fans are flocking to Hatsune Miku's concerts and the best thing is she never gets tired, never falls ill and never has a day off.
Miku has already claimed chart success with a string of top-selling singles in her native country.
The career of the fantasy star echoes that of S1m0ne, the digital pop star created by her manager played by Al Pacino in the film of the same name.
Her adoring fans could be at any concert laid on by any big name star judging by video footage which has emerged of her concerts.
And she's the most accommodating singer ever - happy to pose and sing in fans' own homes.
Her creators - Japanese technology firm Crypton Future Media - have made a digital avatar so her followers can get her performing any song of their choosing on their computer.
Miku's enchanting voice is generated using actors voices, putting them through Yamaha's Vocaloid software.
Miku's voice was created from the samples of actress Saki Fujita.
Damon Albarn used similar visual effects to create shows by Gorillaz but that involved characters projected onto a screen whereas Miku is a proper 3D hologram.
She has already gone on tour in Singapore and staged her first concert in 2009.
