Cities in China tend to be more equal than other Asian cities,
with Beijing being among the most equal city in the region,
although some Chinese cities, such as Shenzhen, are experiencing
relatively high inequality levels similar to those of Bangkok and
Manila. China’s booming economy has also led to rural-urban and
regional disparities, with populations living in cities located
on the eastern part of the country enjoying significantly higher
per capita incomes than rural populations living in remote
western parts of the country.
