Beijing-Nam Dinh match cancelled
KUALA LUMPUR: The AFC Champions League Group F game between Beijing Guoan and
Nam Dinh has been cancelled due to the failure of the host club in making the appropriate arrangements for the staging of the match,
particularly the failure to arrange for visas for the match officials.
AFC had appointed Iraqi Auda Lazim Kadhum as the referee and Subhi Adib Luay and Saeed Ahmed,
both also from Iraq , as his assistants for the match, which was scheduled to be played at the Feng Tai Stadium on Wednesday.
The Chinese Football Association (CFA) and the host club had assured the referees that visa on arrival would be granted upon their landing in Beijing on Monday.
Instead, the referees were refused entry into the country.
AFC has referred the matter to its disciplinary committee.
Lee Jang-soo's charges are in contention to qualify for the quarter-finals after beating leaders Japan 's Kashima Antlers 1-0 in their last game.
Both the teams are tied on nine points after four matches but the Chinese club is placed second due to inferior goal difference. Vietnam 's Nam Dinh are at the bottom with only one point to their credit.
