「美の方が子供を相手にしなかった」のではなくて、子供の注意をそれに振り向けてくれる
環境やきっかけがなかった、ということではないかと思います。

「親が美を与えなかった」とは限らず、子供に美しいものを見せてくれるような環境やきっかけが
なかったということだと思います。
