Abruptly, Mattel announced that "the Palm Beach Ken doll was a preliminary concept,
and is not moving forward as part of the 2010 Barbie Fashion Model Collection.
The doll will not be manufactured".
Earlier, Mattel was quoted as saying "It's a legitimate concept that leaked out,"
said Michelle Chidoni, Mattel spokesperson.
"The collector community has a message board (Barbiecollector.com)
and this doll concept leaked onto the message board."
