歴史では、関係した人達の動機を理解することが重要だ。
自分が1930年代にいると想像してみて下さい。
そしてあなたの世界が原住民と外国人で成り立っていて、
その外国人に迫害され、あなたが寄りかかるものが伝統的な
信仰しかない場合、どんな選択をしますか？それを考えると
原住民達が何故あんなことをしたか理解しやすくなります。
ちょっとは日本で批判されてること気にしてるのかな。
日本人とか日本軍とかいう言葉は出てこないね。
In history, it is important to try to understand
the motives of the people involved.
Try to imagine being in the 1930s.
If your world was made up of tribal members and
foreigners and you had only traditional beliefs
to fall back on when the foreigners oppressed you,
what kind of choices would you make?
If you place yourself in their shoes,
then it becomes easier to understand why they did
what they did.
