"慰安婦"に関する戦時下の米軍による報告書（米公文書）：その2
A "comfort girl" is nothing more than a prostitute or "professional camp follower" attached
to the Japanese Army for the benefit of the soldiers. The word "comfort girl" is peculiar to
the Japanese. Other reports show the "comfort girls" have been found wherever it was necessary
for the Japanese Army to fight. This report however deals only with the Korean "comfort girls"
recruited by the Japanese and attached to their Army in Burma. The Japanese are reported to
have shipped some 703 of these girls to Burma in 1942.
("慰安婦"とは兵士たちのために日本軍に配属された売春婦あるいは"職業的に追軍する者"以外の何者
でもなかった。"慰安婦comfort girl"という言葉は日本人たち(the Japanese）に特有なものである。
他の報告では、"慰安婦"は日本軍が戦う必要があった所ではどこにでもいたことが示されている。しかし
ながら、この報告書では日本人によって募集されビルマの日本軍に配属された朝鮮人"慰安婦"のみしか
扱っていない。報告によると、日本人は1942年には703名ほどのその種の女性たちをビルマに移送したと
云われている。）
