Opinion varies in the EU countries. A 7-point drop in negative ratings (down to 40%) has
made French opinion shift from leaning negative in 2011 (41% vs 47%) to leaning somewhat
positive in 2012 (45% vs 40%). The British continue to be divided (43% positive, 42%
negative), while unfavourable attitudes have remained dominant among the Germans (18%
vs 46%) and the Spanish (21% vs 41%).
