It is pretty well-known that SHIGA Naoya, one of the most famous novelists in Japan, has incurred quite a few blame for his proposal for the adoption of French as an official language of Japan instead of Japanese.
On the other hand, rarely do Japanese people criticise MORI Arinori, the first Minister of Education, who made almost the same proposal that Japanese language should be abandoned for English. Both derived from servile Europeanism.
No doubt, Mori, the man of high place, was far more capable of carrying out his own proposal than Shiga without any official power. Hence, Japanese people ought to have condemned more strongly the former.
This case shows that Japanese people are very unwilling to criticise a man of power, even if his idea is different from theirs.
PM Suga adopts many controversial policies, not a few of which his conservative followers may not like; however, they seldom criticise him and his policies.
The Olympics, which can endanger national welfare and health in the current epidemic―a nationalist, at large, would not agree to carry on these,
