英国では物価高騰による飢餓が拡大し、１日中何も食べないことを与儀なくされる経験をする人も増加している。英紙ガーディアンが報じた。
同記事によると９月には英国の総世帯の実に５分の１は毎日の食事にも不自由を経験しつつある。
これはコロナによって厳しいロックダウンが実施された時期（2020年前半）よりも悪い数字であり
1月以来、約1000万人の成人と400万人の子供が毎日の定期的な食事を取ることができない状態に陥った。
子供にも飢餓が広がり、家庭が食料不足のために昼食を抜かさざるをえない子供や、クラスメートの持参した食事を盗む子供が出ていることが報告されている。
