In 2000 he published with Cumrun Vafa a new proof of the mirror symmetry of Calabi-Yau manifolds [5] about the duality of two-dimensional quantized light theories. This connection of mirror symmetries with T-duality was first assumed by Andrew Strominger, Shing-Tung Yau and Eric Zaslow in 1996.
