Currently, the full-time research faculty at the Vacanti Laboratory consists of Scientific Director Koji Kojima M.D. PhD, and postdoctoral research fellow Haruko Obokata PhD.
In addition, there is a continuous flux of medical, graduate, and undergraduate students in the laboratory,
as well as several visiting research fellows from around the world learning the basics of tissue engineering.

当初は半年間の予定だった留学期間が終わる頃、「博士号もない学生を雇用するのは無理だと事務員に言われたのに、教授は『アイ・ニード・ハー（彼女が必要だ）』と言って電話を切った。
ハーバードにというか、ハーバードの付属病院のBWHのバカンティ研のポスドクという扱いという事にしてあったらしい。
