続きです。
I immediately thought about how weird the whole thing would seem in Japan where, unlike the US, most people don't even hug their friends or family members.
But after a little Internet searching, I discovered the "free hug campaign" is a worldwide movement, not based on religion.
I even found some videos on wed sites showing Japanese free huggers in Shibuya and Shinjuku.
Actually, those videos are really cute, set to background of J-pop.
Most people ignore the huggers, just like they did on the UT campus, but occasionally someone gets a hug and seems to really enjoy it.
In fact, the purpose of the campaign has been described as simply "a way to make people smile."
There's certainly nothing wrong with making people smile.
We probably all need more smiles and laughter in our lives.
But I finally concluded that whether a parson decides to hug or not to hug may have more to do with personality than culture.
The idea is sweet, but I still prefer to get my hugs in more familiar places.
Then again, those Japanese huggers in the video were awfully cute―who knows, on a very good day, I might just go for it?
これで終わりです。和訳の方、何卒よろしくお願い致します。
