Although the class system has now been eradicated and people of all walks of life are able to
acquire good educations and aspire to any social position they wish through hard work and dedication,
the concept of belonging to a class remains in Britain, together with the sense of pride that goes with it.
In a strange turnabout, however, young people of the middle and upper classes today have tendency to imitate
the dialects and attitudes of the working class, which are seen as being much more “cool”
than the stodgy and boring superior classes.
