But also from 逆境無頼カイジ Ultimate Survivor:
"“They live meaningless lives. They waste their precious days over nothing.
No matter how old they get, they’ll continue to say, My real life hasn’t started yet. The real me is still asleep, so that’s why my life is such garbage.
They continue to tell themselves that. And they age. Then die. And on their deathbeds, they will finally realize. The life they lived was the real thing.

As I see it, Japanese English learners whose English are good enough
to understand what's going on here in detail are rare.
It's almost impossible for high school kids to follow conversdations here.
All they can do is to post one line or two. They don't/can't even read long posts.
If they do, it takes a lot of time to read and understand them. Replying them takes
much more time and energy for them.
Japanese in this thread consists of three types, being the first type the
majority.
1. NEET. They have lots of time to study English. Actually, for many years.
Their English is good enough because long time NEET here have a passion to
study English although they aren't willing to get a job. Or personality problems
of them make it difficult for them to be motivated to get a job.
2. University students or grad students. Their English proficiency is not
better than NEET but some are very good at English.
3. High school kids. Their English is not good enough to make thmeselves
understood. Even high school kids who can enter one of the best universities
in Japan don't have a good writing skills.
As long as NEET is the majority of this thread, Skype conference is
just a pie in the sky because they don't want to say they are NEET, talking on
Skype. If university or high school students were the majority here, Skype
conference had already been realized.
That's just my opinion as one of the hard core NEET.

One of the reasons why the university students from Japan studying
there is to learn English so you can strike a conversation in English
with them. International students from Japan don't mingle with American students
because their English isn't so good. You are the one who paves the way
for them to make freinds with America students.

rofl, that sounds really awkward. I actually had to look up what "salacious" meant.
"obscene", "suggestive", or "lewd" would be better.
That would be like saying, "The English internet [burlesques] Sparky for his strange personality."
Instead of, "The English internet [makes fun of] Sparky for his strange personality."
To be honest I'm not even sure I used "burlesques" properly, but you get the idea.

I don't know exactly but people from overseas sometimes get banned by 2ch.
Maybe because there's some cyber attacks from people with overseas domain but
I'm not sure. As far as I know, people whose IP address includes se (sweden)
are banned now. There used to ba a university student from Sweden whose
handle name is スウェーデン人 but he has been denied his access.
He can post from his friends home because thier IP address don't include .se.
In domestic cases, if someone is posting random meaningless posts including
link spams and all that, he is banned for some time. Other people who
happen to use the same ISP, are banned, too. I've experienced gettng banned
even though I didn't do any nuisances.

Thank you for your welcoming words!
I might have been personally banned, but I think what actually happened
was that they blocked most American ISPs and proxy servers around the
same time. Because most of the Americans suddenly disappeared from this
thread about a year ago. I haven't been following in the meantime; it was too
frustrating to not be able to post.
I'm still addicted to the Internet, but I've developed a second embarrassing
addiction--to my son's Guitar Hero game. I'm really good on easy mode; can't do
anything on medium mode. Yes, I know this is lame.
I'm so happy to be back, although I don't know how long it will be before I'm kicked

Considering the huge population of China, it's curious that no Chinese people exisit in this thread.

Do you know why 2ch banned most of American ISPs? It's because a guy posted insanely huge amount of spams by using American proxies.
2ch had no way of getting contact to those ISPs, so 2ch couldn't solve this problem except the blocking

We haven't seen イギリス人 in awhile...
Ok so, my 日本語先生 told my class that we would be participating in a blogging project with our sister school in Japan.
Considering half my class has been to Japan, we were all very excited and gave suggestions to our teacher on how to set up such a community blog.
I don't think it'll be successful though. Most of my class hardly knows any Japanese and even us AP students don't have comparable proficiency to our Japanese friends' English.
Maybe it'll be like this thread and it that case it wouldn't be too bad.
Oh and I have to do an oral presentation (in Japanese and I can only use notes, not read verbatim) on 文化祭 soon, so I'll be asking for help here on that, if you don't mind.

My favorite Guitar Hero song?
I am playing Guitar Hero 3, and I like many of the songs.
So, it's tough to say. Perhaps Pearl Jam's "Evenflow" is my favorite.
My best song so far is "Knights of Cydonia" because I played it without a mistake.
And my all time high score is a little over 140000 on "Cliffs of Dover".
It's funny, because I remember many of these songs from when they were
new.
But this is all on easy mode. My reaction times aren't good enough for medium mode yet!
Unfortunately, Guitar Hero 1 and 2 don't work on a PS3. I like a lot of the songs
on the second game; too bad for me.

Japanese lessons last year, but I stopped when I ran out of time and money.
I am still studying Japanese a little, and yes, I count watching anime and
dramas as studying! (listening practice)
I love reading manga, but have to read it in English translation, since it takes
me 1-2 hours to translate a page, and by then I've forgotten the story line.
I also suspect that I'm a lot older than most people here, but unfortunately, I'm

*Ether (Florida)
Has travelled to Japan. Taller than 6 feet and blond.
Puts a photo of two sumo wrestlers he saw during his stay in Japan on the wall.
His penis was bitten off by a gigantic aligator while he was taking a nap
in his back yard. His mom is on the FBI's missing people list.
On the day he saw her last, he saw a huge alligator with its stomach

疑問に思う is a set phrase that literally means to wonder or to doubt, e.g.,
あなたが正しいかどうか疑問に思う means "I wonder if you're right," "I can't believe you," or something.
ところ sometimes means "point" minus "improtant/critical" as in "That's the point," where "the point" literally means 大事なところ.
In this usage ところ is synonymous with 点 (てん).
So 疑問に思ったところ is 疑問に思った点, and, if you translate word-for-word, it'd be "anything you wonder/doubt/don't understand".
That's why it becomes "Feel free to ask us if you have any questions."

It took a whole year for the next door auntie to realize I was a he when our family moved to our new house when I was 16.
I self-loathed being literally cute then. I'm pretty knowlegeable about how Japanese middle age men grope girls on a train lol... ;_;
Now it'd be strange for women my age to have no makeup on, so I'm just a gay-looking guy.
I guess this has something to do with the reason why my wife chose me; she loves yaoi doujins.
