The mother of a Filipino overseas worker is appealing for help to rescue her daughter from a white slavery syndicate that victimized her almost a week after arrival in South Korea
Marivic Butil, a resident of Malaybalay City in Bukidnon province, said her 20-year-old daughter, Genesis Gilmar,
was recruited to work in South Korea as a singer.
“When she arrived at her workplace, ready to do her craft as a singer, she was alarmed by the unusual operations of the said institution
as she was asked to entertain the customers and be ready to be taken out as a prostitute,” Butil said in a letter dated Sept. 10, 2008.
