A flat display device equipped with an electron source plate having an
electron source and a display plate coated with fluorescent material,
with a vacuum being generated between said electron source plate
and said display plate, characterized in that:
carbon nanotubes bundles are positioned on the outer surface portion of
an electrode formed by said electron source plate, and
said carbon nanotube bundles are irradiated with ions.

atmosphere,

are irradiated by ions.
