梅を干す時季であるが先週はﾁｰﾄ忙しく、まんだ干してをらんのである。
よつて先づは練習問題汁。
割愛された第２版所収の問題たち：
・公園を散歩しているとジェット機の数編隊が東の方へ飛んでいくのが
見えた。
(While)Walking in the park, I saw several formations of jet planes
flying eastward.

をるからだがや。ｻｶｰ等ﾌﾄﾎﾞｦﾙ等のｽﾎﾟﾙﾂでは「陣形」等不可欠な概念。
・夜おそくまで私達はおきて話しをしていました。
We sat up talking till late [far into the night].
(当ﾋﾞ拙訳)We continued talking until midnight.
・可哀想にその女は路傍の(on the roadside)雪の中で凍え死んで
(frozen to death)いました。
The poor woman lay frozen to death in the snow on the roadside.

・議論などに時間をつぶすな。
Don't waste time arguing.
・久しぶりに会ってみると、スマートな青年紳士になっているので
少なからず面喰った。
Coming across after so many years, I was not a little surprised to
find him grown into a smart-looking [fine] young gentleman.
