パリ症候群

異文化における適応障害の一種であり、カルチャーショックの一種。「流行の発信地」などといったイメージに憧れてパリで暮らし始めた外国人が、現地の習慣や文化などにうまく適応できずに精神的なバランスを崩し、鬱病に近い症状を訴える状態を指す精神医学用語である
「憧れを抱いてパリに住む日本人を襲う適応障害の一種。日常生活のストレスが高じ、妄想や幻覚、自律神経の失調や抑うつ症状をまねく」ともいう
「日本の若い女性は甘やかされ、過保護で育てられたお嬢さんたちだ。西欧的な自由に免疫がないので、変になってしまうのだろう」
「社会関係がぜんぜん違う。日本的な集団主義とは相容れない。日本人は自分たちの集団から離れるとまるで無防備になったような気になるんだろう」
最後に『リベラシオン』は、次のように結んでいる[15]。
それまで抱いていた夢とパリの現実との格差を前に幻滅し、心理的障害にいたるとも説明できる。
日仏医学協会会長のマリオ・ルノー氏によると、「日本人は雑誌のせいで幻想をふくらませ、
パリではそこら中にモデルや全身ヴィトンでまとめた女性がいると思い込んでいる」が、現実はほど遠い。
パリのあちこちにゴッホやトップモデルがいるわけではないが、だからといって病気になるほどのことはないだろう[15]。

Paris syndrome

Paris syndrome is a condition exhibited by some individuals when visiting or going on vacation to Paris, as a result of extreme shock at discovering that Paris is different from their expectations.
Mario Renoux, the president of the Franco-Japanese Medical Association, states in Libération':
"Des Japonais entre mal du pays et mal de Paris" (The Japanese are caught between homesickness and Paris sickness).
This is also a play on words since Pays and Paris sound similar, 13 December 2004) and that media and touristic advertising are primarily responsible for creating this syndrome.
Renoux indicates that media, magazines in particular, often depict Paris as a place where most people on the street look like "stick-thin" models
and most women dress in high fashion brands such as Louis Vuitton with no signs of the pollution, overcrowding or rudeness of the locals.
