紙の辞書しかない時代なら、辞書があれば・・、というのは暴論だったが、
英語専門モデルの電子辞書そしてネット検索が利用できる今は時代が違う。

高卒レベル+辞書、じゃ無理というなら、The Economistの具体的な記事から該当箇所を
引用してくれ。

あるっていうか、むち打ちになる位急に動く、急に動いてむち打ちにする、
って事だね。

この場合セールスが急に「止まって」経済がむち打ち症になったわけだね。

この発言が日本語での解説不要の根拠として主張されている。
それは高校での英語学習のレベルの事実誤認であると私は反論している。
すなわち英文には日本語の解説添付が必須であるということだ。

当然そうだ。
だから勉強している。

で、教えてもらったことは、すべて高校卒レベルで解決できることであったが、
なんでそこに思いが至らなかったのかと反省する。
最近では、Nine to go かな。(これも高卒レベルで解決、だろ)

いままで、高卒レベルで説明がつかない事例に出会ったことはないが、
キミはあるのか?(もちろん、The Economistが前提)

そもそもEconomistを読んでない人は、(定義により)わからない場所などないし、
読んでいる人は、辞書を引けば自分なりに解決できる。

当然、誤読している可能性はあるが、どこをどう誤読しているかなど
わからない(それがわかれば聞くまでもなく修正する)から、この場に示しようがない、
ということになる。

Economistを読んでない人が読み始めれば、わからないどころだらけだろうから
ここに質問が来るのだろうが。

あとは語彙(含、イディオム)だから、語彙が話題になるのは当然。

で、ここは英語板だから、経済や金融(Economistは科学や文芸も守備範囲だが)の話しは板違い。
もちろん、板違いであっても、そういう話しをしたい人は勝手にしてもらっていいのだが、
誰もそんな話題は出さないのは、英語板としてごく自然な状態。

4月か5月あたりから年間購読しようと思って
読み比べてる最中。
とはいえ一号だけ比べたってわからんです。

個人的に経済に興味ある。ヨーロッパに興味ある。
だからeconomistがいいなあ、なんて単純に考えてるのだが、
英語週刊誌も初めてだし敷居高いですかね。
ついでに年間購読料からいくとTIMEが激安なんだね。

日本版があることを考えるとNewsweekかなと思うが、
なんかこじゃれた?文化とかテクノロジーの話が多い気がする。
そういうのも大事だけど、すくなくずばっと政治と経済が分かる、
程度がよいのですが。

それぞれ年間購読してちゃんと読んだぜってひと、

If early retirement really improves living standards, why stop at 60? Why not 55? If governments moved
